Scarborough

Scarborough was Britain’s first seaside resort and is steeped in history. It has been welcoming visitors for centuries and remains as popular as ever. There are two wonderful beaches perfect for children. The quieter North Bay being the closest to Home Farm with hundreds of rockpools revealed at low tide which provide endless fun for children.

Around the headland is the busier South Bay home to the penny arcades and the fun fair with rides and dodgems, always a favourite with the kids. Here you can take a walk around the charming harbour and maybe take a speed boat ride around the bay.

Whitby & Robin Hoods Bay

Further up the coast historic Whitby with it’s famous abbey and Dracula connections. 199 steps lead down from the historic abbey to the cobbled streets full of interesting and unique shops. A couple of miles back down the coast takes you to the enchanting smugglers village of Robin Hoods Bay a must to visit. Both Whitby and Bay are half an hour’s drive away and with their lovely beaches are well worth a visit.

North York Moors

Home Farm Scarborough is situated on the border of the North York Moors National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. For the more active and adventurous in your party there are plenty of excellent walking and cycling opportunities in nearby Dalby Forest, along with a spectacular Go Ape course. There is also the North York Moors Railway where you can take a nostalgic ride on steam train between Pickering and Goathland, made popular by the hit TV series Heartbeat.

York

An hour’s drive takes you to the walled city of York, one of the most picturesque cities in England. Here you will find the National Railway museum and also the very interesting Jorvik Centre detailing the Viking heritage of York Museum, as well as the interesting Castle museum which brings Victorian and Edwardian England to life with recreated streets. On the way to York stop at the famous historic house, Castle Howard. Made famous by the film Brideshead Revisited and more recently Bridgerton it is well worth a visit.

What Our Guests Have To Say

Perfect house for a family gathering

We’ve just returned from a wonderful weekend at Home Farm. The property was well equipped with plenty of room for our family of 12. The house was perfect for those in our party with mobility issues and the pool was a real bonus. The local village is lovely with two pubs and Scarborough is within a 10 minute drive.

Great Place for a Family Weekend

We had a great multi generationalfamily weekend. This is a lovely spacious cottage with everything we needed and more. The swimming pool was a brilliant bonus. Having a well designed suite with accessible wet room meant that our disabled daughter could join us too. We would happily return and recommend it highly.

Our second visit

This year was our second visit to Home Farm, the family love it. We enjoy the security of its large, enclosed well-kept garden that gives us peace of mind that our dog can't escape. The house is warm and friendly with more bedrooms to suit our family needs but are always handy to have. The main reason we chose home farm was the private swimming pool where we spent most of our time. The village of is quite with a couple of pubs, one that serves great food. There is a café that does great bacon buttes but opens a little late for my liking. Thanks again Melanie.

Perfect Wheelchair Accessible Family Holiday

Our second multi generational family holiday at home farm was just as good as our first. The house is homely yet spacious enough for a big group, the garden is lovely to sit out in and the kids spent every free minute in the pool! It had everything we needed for the week and is clean and comfortable. The accessible suite was perfect for my dad who is a full time wheelchair user. All his needs were met by the house and he could access the garden too. Scalby itself is picturesque (daisy's tearoom was especially lovely) and in easy travelling distance of lots of family and wheelchair friendly days out. We went on the steam train from Grosmont to Whitby (need to book the wheelchair space in advance), visited Peasholm park and had fish and chips by the beach in Scarborough, all with relative ease, just a little planning for where to park and avoid steep hills. We'll definitely come again!
